Android 5.0 Lollipop is on everyone’s lips lately and while several companies like HTC, Motorola, and Sony already revealed their plans to bring the new software on their devices, Samsung has been silent about updating their flagships. According to a new report from Sammobile, the Samsung Galaxy S5 Android 5.0 Lollipop update might arrive as early as December.

If the report proves accurate and the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for Samsung Galaxy S5 is indeed rolled out in December, then the South Korean company would have a slight advantage against its competitors, as both Sony and HTC are estimating that the new update will be pushed to their flagships sometime early 2015. Anyway, Sammobile’s report aligns with previous rumors saying that the Samsung is planing to bring Android 5.0 on both Galaxy S5 and Galaxy Note 4 late November or early December.Kingzone N3 MTK6582

Anyway, Samsung is testing Android 5.0 Lollipop on their devices for quite a while. We’ve even get to see a hands-on with the new software running on a Samsung Galaxy S5 a while ago. Back then a leaked video demoed a test build of Android L running on a Galaxy S5. Even though that was an early build, it was obvious that Samsung has made some major tweaks to their custom TouchWiz skin in order to follow the guidelines of Material Design. You can find the said video in this post.

Android 5.0 Lollipop is the most major update Google’s mobile operating system has received so far. The new Android iteration arrives with major design improvements, better notifications, multi-user profiles for phones, support for 64-bit processors, and improved performance due to the switch to ART.
